Poetry Advent Calendar

Do you have an Advent Calendar? Traditionally, we buy one each year — filled with lovely chocolate treats. My husband annoys me, as sometimes he forgets to eat his treat some days. How on earth can you forget to eat your chocolate!

I wanted to do something different for Christmas on my Facebook, business page this year, so decided to create a Poetry Advent Calendar, which I can also share on Instagram.

In fact, the idea works particularly well on Instagram. Because the platform allows you to upload several images, you can have the photo as the first image, and the slide across the poem or poems. In fact, it is a little like opening a window.

I decided to write 25 short Christmas Haiku. They’re in the format of Haiku — of 5 syllables, 7 syllables, and then 5 again, if not exactly in the traditional style of content.

On some days I have also written some slightly longer poems, which I have posted after the Haiku.

It’s a little bit of fun, and I hope you enjoy it.

You can follow the rest of the days on my Facebook page,

Here are my first five;

If you enjoyed these and would like to follow the rest of the calendar poems, please either follow on my Facebooks page:
